Services

Four ways into a project.

Consulting, sales support, project management and site management for electric and automation packages in processing lines and plants.

Concept –
Engineering

Consulting

An independent second opinion from someone who knows the line before it is built.

Most electrical and automation design errors remain hidden until commissioning. That is when the consequences become visible: failed tests, delayed start-ups, and costly troubleshooting. I review concepts, specifications, and bid packages at a stage where design weaknesses can still be identified and corrected before they affect schedule, budget, or performance.

  • Review of concepts and basic engineering
  • Preparation and assessment of technical specifications
  • Technical evaluation of supplier bids and quotations
  • Risk assessment on critical design decisions
  • Interface management between mechanical, electrical, and automation disciplines

Sales –
Award

Sales support

The sales and bid phase decides whether a project will be profitable in execution.

A clearly defined scope of supply is the most effective protection against claims, schedule disputes and margin erosion. I help shape the technical content of a bid so that it withstands negotiation, supports accurate costing, and remains robust throughout project execution.

  • Definition and clear demarcation of the scope of supply
  • Establishing the technical basis for cost calculation and budgeting
  • Technical clarification with end users, customers, sub-suppliers and consortium partners
  • Review of customer specifications and assessment of deviations
  • Preparation of technical specifications for award and contract negotiations

Award –
Acceptance

Project management

Responsibility for scope, schedule and interfaces — from purchase order to acceptance.

Failures rarely originate from a single component. More often, they occur at the interfaces between systems, suppliers, and project teams. That is where effective project management creates value.

With experience ranging from commissioning to global E&A leadership, I provide single-point responsibility for the coordination and delivery of the complete E&A scope from contract award to final acceptance.

  • Project management for the complete Electric & Automation package
  • Coordination of engineering teams, suppliers and sub-suppliers
  • Schedule management, milestone tracking, and progress monitoring
  • Change and claim management
  • Reporting and communication with contractors, end users, and stakeholders

Installation –
Acceptance

Site management

Site work is where it becomes clear whether the engineering was right.

Installation and commissioning are the phase in which every unresolved issue becomes visible and expensive. Delays, interface gaps, and design weaknesses that remained hidden during engineering inevitably surface on site.

For more than four decades, I have led electrical and automation activities on project sites across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, from the first cable installation through commissioning, performance testing, and final acceptance.

  • Installation management and site supervision
  • On-site coordination of electrical and automation partners and contractors
  • Commissioning management, cold and hot
  • Support during performance runs and guarantee measurements
  • Management of acceptance procedures through Final Acceptance (FAC)
  • Training of operating and maintenance personnel

Scope of supply

What an E&A package contains.

Scope I have been responsible for in projects — complete or in part, depending on the assignment.

  • Medium-voltage switchgear
  • Transformers
  • Low-voltage switchgear (PCC, MCC)
  • Drive systems
  • Motors (low and medium voltage)
  • Emergency power generation and UPS systems
  • Level 1 and Level 2 automation systems
  • Process models
  • Process control systems, MES integration
  • Process instrumentation
  • Sensors
  • Auxiliary systems: ITV/CCTV, intercom, HVAC

Working together

What an assignment can look like.

  • Project-based, for the full duration of an assignment
  • Selectively, as an expert reviewer or second opinion
  • On site worldwide or from the consulting office
  • Working languages German and English
